Teacher: Miss Maddison
Teaching Assistants: Miss Gage, Miss Mitchell & Mrs Say
Our Reception class is a busy, imaginative place, full of learning and fun! Every day we carry out adult led and child initiated activities and we move between inside and outside.

We are learning to be independent as well as how to make good relationships with others. We really enjoy our Phonics and Maths and we are all making great progress.

Our favourite is Forest school where we are learning about Nature as well as developing our cooperation, resilience and ability to solve problems and challenge ourselves.

We are great at coming to school every day and always make our teachers smile!

We have completed our first full week in reception and I am very pleased with how well all of the children coped with the long days!

They really took it in their stride and amazed me with how well they got on.

We had the chance to take part in PE with Mr Taylor and we went to Forest School!

We LOVED Forest School! We were very lucky with the sunny weather and had a fab time. We made mud pies, built shelters and climbed trees!

Well Done Reception, I can’t wait for the rest of the year!

Our First Lunch

Here we are eating our first lunch in reception!

Most of us had macaroni cheese but some of us enjoyed the yummy beef cobbler!

We were so excellent at lunch time, we gave everything a go and then waited patiently to go onto the playground.

On the playground we were able to mix with the older children, some of us got to see our older brothers and sisters!

We loved eating our lunch at school!

Welcome to Reception

During our first week in reception we did lots of exploring of our new toys and resources in our outside area!

We used a lot of them to make this excellent train with an engine and carriages!

Sports Day

Reception enjoys all competitive activities. So today was going to be fun.

I'm sure there will be many from Reception who has a sore throat from all the shouts of support.

Team Work

As we are fast approaching the end of the school year, we start to notice the strong friendship bonds formed by our lovely Reception class. This stays with them through each year group at Orchard. You can see their personalities develop and this shows in team work.

They organised themselves into a building company, each having their own role to play.

Taylor became the boss and turned into Alan Sugar firing everybody. Wouldn't want to work for that company!
