Teacher - Miss Hall
TA - Mr Horrocks
In Year 4, our main value is 'Respect', whether this is for ourselves, our classmates, adults in the school, equipment or our class and school environment. We always try to ensure we are kind and caring towards each other and help each other whenever possible.
We are a hard working class and we enjoy our learning. We like to discuss our ideas and use a variety of ways to represent our work. We focus on our English and Maths lessons in the mornings. Early morning work may consist of activities like handwriting, responding to any marking or spellings. We have daily Guided Reading sessions where we focus on a particular book and we also look at other types of texts such as poetry, narratives and songs. Maths Meetings are a particular focus throughout the week. This is where we recap on what we have learnt and we focus on our Times Tables. Later in the day, we get to learn through our topic work as well as covering lots of other exciting subjects.
We all have a target for our Accelerated Reading which we are trying hard to get to. Who will be our first AR Millionaire this year?
As Year 4 is such a key year, we are encouraged to be responsible for our own learning and our own behaviour. We try to THINK before we SPEAK or ACT. We like to self-assess our work and peer mark our friends' work as well as take note of what our teachers tell us by responding to any marking.
Our teachers hope that by the end of the year we will be confident, independent and enthusiastic learners, ready to face the challenges and fun in Year 5!
