Orchard accepted an invitation from All Saints church in Foots Cray to come and see their display of the nationwide campaign There But Not There – a poignant tribute commemorating 100 years since the end of the First World War.
As we entered the church, we could see the Perspex Tommy figure of a World War One soldier placed on a pew wearing a poppy. It made you feel quite reflective of how fortunate we are today and how these silhouettes of soldiers have contributed to the lives we live by the sacrifice they have made.
Each pupil made their own poppy which will be joined together in school on Friday.
Afterwards we looked around the graveyard and saw many headstones dated around the time of WWI.
Thank you to All Saints church for the invitation, we all really enjoyed ourselves.
