Be the best that you can be!

Safeguarding

The Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Head teacher - Mrs Spencer.

Mrs Rutherford, Mr Armstrong, Mrs Clinton and Miss Maddison support this role as part of the Safeguarding Team and are Deputy DSLs.

Safeguarding and the protection of the children in our care is the most important part of our day to day role; it is the responsibility of all our staff to ensure that our children feel safe and happy and report any concerns that they may have to a designated safeguarding member of staff.

Safeguarding at Orchard is covered by the following polices:

Safeguarding Policy

Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023

Behaviour Policy

Anti-bullying policy

Online Safety Policy

Attendance Policy

First Aid and Medical Needs Policy

All staff have had enhanced DBS checks carried out and undertake yearly Child Protection and Safeguarding Training. In addition to the basic safeguarding training, the Designated Teachers undertake training in inter-agency working that is provided by the LSCB, and refresher training at two yearly intervals to keep their knowledge and skill up to date. All other staff keep up to date with weekly updates through staff meetings.

All volunteers with regular contact with children will have an enhanced DBS checks carried out. They will receive an induction and be given clear guidance on responsibilities, acceptable behaviour and limits to their role.

As a school we work closely with a range of external agencies to support our children and families and have access to a range of services that are there to support children and their families.

We always want to work together with our families and community and know that communication and trust is an important part of this.

IF YOU HAVE A WORRY OR CONCERN IN REGARDS TO YOUR CHILD OR ANOTHER CHILD AT ORCHARD, PLEASE SPEAK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO A DESIGNATED SAFEGUARDING MEMBER OF STAFF EVEN IF THIS RELATES TO AN INCIDENT OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL.

In addition, you can raise a concern or seek advice by visiting the MASH team at Bexley.
