At Orchard Primary we are committed to the well-being and welfare of our pupils.
Child protection and safeguarding at Orchard Primary School is paramount.
The designated person for child protection and safeguarding is the Head teacher - Mrs Spencer.
Staff and volunteers in our organisation accept and recognise our responsibilities to develop awareness of the issues that may cause children harm.
We are committed to the provision of safeguarding training for all our team members.
In addition to the basic safeguarding training, the Designated Teacher undertakes training in inter-agency working that is provided by the LSCB, and refresher training at 2 yearly intervals to keep her knowledge and skill up to date. All other staff undertake appropriate training to equip them to carry out their responsibilities for child protection effectively, which is kept up to date by refresher training at 3 yearly intervals.
All volunteers with regular contact with children will have an enhanced DBS checks carried out. They will receive an induction and be given clear guidance on responsibilities, acceptable behaviour and limits to their role.
If you have a concern about a child's welfare, please bring it to our immediate attention.
There are a number of policies that support our work in school.
