I have a keen interest in mathematics and science and am a qualified chartered accountant and company secretary. My career to date has had a finance bias holding directorships in commercial businesses from RAC and BSM to public sector organisations at Eastbourne Homes and Kemnal Academies Trust. I am also Treasurer for my local church and a Boys Brigade leader.

I live locally in Sidcup and our 3 children have all received either primary or secondary schooling in the borough. I believe that education plays a vital role in unlocking the potential of our children. .

I am a parent governor with two children at the school and I have lived in the area for 15 years. Currently, I work within the local government which is a position I have held for 29 years. I am also, a martial arts instructor (karate black belt).My role is as special interest governor for history and geography.

Mr Colin Gurnett MBE - Co-Opted Governor

 Studied law at University, served on The Magistrates Bench North Kent for 20 Years, Chairman of Adult, Family and Youth courts. Appointed to The Lord Chancellors Advisory Sub Committee to interview and select applicants for The Magistrates Bench.
Served for five years Deputy Chair Local Authority Governor Royal Park School.
Trained as a Mediator West Kent Mediation Services.
Awarded MBE in 2016 for services to the community in Kent.
I’m now retired and live with my wife Gwen in Sidcup we have three grandchildren. Looking forward to working with the staff and governors along with total commitment to the roll of governor.

I am a parent governor with 3 children the eldest of whom attends Orchard Primary. I have lived in Sidcup with my family for 6 years and currently work as a Senior HR Manager within Financial Services where I've worked for 5 years but have also worked in the engineering and utilities industries prior to that. My focus as a governor is on quality of teaching. I think that Orchard is a fantastic school in a great community and want to help to ensure the school is the best that it can be for the benefit of pupils, staff and parents.

Having worked in education for 15 years, both as a teacher and a Library Manager, I am passionate about learning. I have two children attending Orchard and I have taken the role of Parent Governor so that I can support the school to continue to be a friendly, nurturing and creative environment for the children to learn in.

I live locally in Blackfen and currently work for the UK Civil Service. I previously worked for a local Harris Academy and volunteered for years with 7th Welling Scouts. I was also General Secretary for Out in Education, an organisation focusing on LGBTQ+ education in Nottingham. I have a strong interest in inclusive education and mental health.
I look forward to working with the staff and community at Orchard Primary.
